WHY I FEEL THAT MIXING UP STYLE BENEFITS MY BLOG

Being a goth gal through and through means that a lot of my day-to-day outfits consist of black, white and grey, and there is nothing wrong with it at all. But I find that mixing up my style does benefit my blog! Recently, I have been stepping right out of my comfort zone, and I'm really happy with it.
When saying this, I don't mean that I specifically go out and buy colourful clothing or items with jazzy prints just for my blog. I have seen other bloggers who specifically change who they are for the sake of blogging, and on Sister Of The Moon I like to be myself, because being genuine makes it a better blog all round, right?

MIXING UP STYLES KEEPS MY CONTENT FRESH.

When I say 'benefits my blog' I mean it in the sense that I feel if I constantly featured my usual very monochrome outfits on my blog, that it would feel very repetitive, mainly for me, but probably for my blog audience too. Don't get me wrong, I read a few fashion blogs where it is mainly monochrome outfits styled, and they absolutely smash it. I think what I mainly aim for is me putting my own personal touch on items you probably aren't used to seeing me wear. This keeps my content fresh and ensures I have a new and completely individual post every time to keep readers engaged!

BLOGGING HAS OPENED MY EYES TO FASHION.

When I created Sister Of The Moon I knew I had a love for fashion and styling garments, but I liked to keep within my comfort zones and stuck to similar outfits. Joining the blogging world has opened my eyes to a whole other world of styles that I have't remotely covered yet! I definitely have become more open minded to certain styles, I tend to pick up a variety of styles and prints to try on when out shopping, even trying new things with bold prints/colours on wouldn't have been something that I'd even put a slight bit of thought to, only a year ago.

I AM CREATING CONTENT I AM PROUD OF.

With the help of my sister, who is talented at taking photos, my blog is now something that I love to talk about and share with others. I feel a lot of this also comes from me exploring different styles and putting my personality into the outfits I feature on my blog. If I had continued to feature the type outfits that I was, I probably wouldn't be as happy with it as I am. Because ultimately, the growth of my blog, my style and the photography, has all completely benefitted my blog.

Despite me absolutely loving picking up garments that are completely new styles for me, I still will always have my favourite black goth gal items, and my treasured Dr Martens, like in this outfit. I have had my eye on this beautiful tea dress for a little while now, and I was very unsure if the style would suit me! So I popped instore to try it on, and it looked absolutely wonderful! the contrast between the dress, my pale skin and black hair is striking. I love the cape feature on this dress, and the tie waist which makes me look a bit smaller at the waist then I am!

I originally planned to style this outfit as a completely girly look, but that was before I even tried it on. When I got to store and tried it on with my Dr Martens and tights I completely fell in love with the look and couldn't wait to style it for my blog!

  4. I love your dress! I find blogging has helped me expand my style as well. I'll go shopping and be uncertain is a piece of clothing I like is worth it and think this would look good for this blog post and buy it, just adding another pro to the list x

  5. I love absolutely everything about this post - the dress, the hair, the tattoos, the boots!
I used to have black hair with a fringe, and I found I would wear floral and a bit of colour, whereas now I have blonde hair, I dress exclusively in black :)
