The blogging world is ever growing and there is a lot of inspiring people out there, which means the rate of new bloggers is also huge. I know starting up as a new blogger can be pretty daunting when there is so so many talented hard working people out there already creating fab content.
When I first started up blogging I didn't really know what I was doing, or what tools I needed to get off to a good start! I wasn't very prepared and didn't do any research on it either, I just had a few blogs which I read regularly and I wanted to take that on myself! I thought I'd create a bit of a list of things I would definitely recommend having, to make the most of starting a fashion blog...

A good quality camera

I'm going to start this off by saying I didn't start off with any camera at all, I used my iPhone 5S camera and the quality of my photographs were poor and I looked at my blog and didn't love it the way I do now. Don't get me wrong, some people can get along just fine with a phone. If you know you will be fashion blogging for the long run, then a good quality camera may be a wise investment. Panasonic have created the DC-GX800 Lumix G which is a 4K CSC Camera*, with it's 16 megapixel camera for clear good quality images, it has a screen that rotates out 180 degrees so you can see yourself while taking outfit shots on your tripod (see next point) and with it's wifi compatibility transferring images is a lot easier to do. It also comes in four different colour ways so you can pick your favourite to suit you!

A tripod

As a fashion blogger, a tripod may become your new best friend! Not everyone has someone to take photographs for them, so purchasing a (cheap) tripod gives you more freedom with your photos. Rather than staying in at home and balancing your camera on your furniture! I find getting out and about and using different settings as backgrounds mixes up the content and keeps your audiences attention.

Editing Software

Don't let the title scare you away! In my opinion, you don't have to invest lots of money into your editing software if you don't want to. So long as you have an app or programme that you can edit your photographs well on, then you're fine! I started just using VSCO which is an editing software app that is so easy to use and I still stick to it now for Instagram posts (and selfies!). However, for my blog photos I find that Lightroom is the best, it is easier to use then Photoshop and has a mobile app too!

Now, when I say inspiration I mean inspiration and not outright ripping off other peoples ideas. As a fashion blogger you can take inspiration from so many things! Pinterest, Instagram, fashion magazines and trends in shops seem to bring me a lot of inspiration! I'm constantly on the lookout for ideas how to style items creatively and putting my own touch to my blog posts.

Actively use social medias

This is something I say time and time again that I'm going to do but with juggling my full time job with my growing blog I tend to push this aside, however, this is another thing that can be your best friend when starting up a fashion blog! Using your social medias to promote your blog posts can help massively when wanting to increase the amount of people reading your posts, I find joining blogger chats on twitter helps too! Twitter generally is the app I get the most out of when promoting my blog, as there is 'blogger retweet' accounts that can retweet your promoting tweets, if you tag them in it, so your posts can reach a wider audience. Also, downloading the app 'Hootsuite' to schedule tweets for say, when you're at work, so you can still actively promote your posts even when you're busy!

Since starting off with just me, my iPhone and a lot of inspiration I would say looking back and comparing to how I run my blog now, that I wish I knew the things I've mentioned on this post would help my blog in the long run! I hope this helps out anyone else starting a fashion blog.
